My First Blog Entry-Yielding to the Changing Seasons

Posted on Oct 23rd, 2007 by gaiagirl : Lover of Laughter gaiagirl

What are you yeilding to this season?

OK, here I am, stepping into a whole new learning curve as I start the journey of blogging. I am yielding, finally,  to the change of the technological seasons. So, I'm a bit of a reluctant sometimes-actually it just takes me time to integrate new things into my world. I guess it is my stubborn Taurean nature, but being of the Earth, I eventually yield, just as the green leaves of summer yield to the cool Autumn nights and the brilliance of color that comes.

Recently, I was in Oregon for an ARTrageous Business Retreat with my partners. On the ride from Eugene to Ashland we stopped at a rest area, where these colors attracted my attention. (Here in AZ. we don't get color like that!!) Afterwards , while reviewing my photos I noticed the yield sign and I was struck by the metaphor. It caused me to consider what I might be yielding to, either consciously or not, and how the action of yielding, generally, is a positive one.

When we yield, we are required to slow down, and to merge into whatever we are moving towards. We have to look behind us a little bit and see what might be coming towards us. And we have to have a good sense of where we want to be going. Yielding, while gentle, is not passive. It is not something we can do with blinders on. Once we yield, we then must be aware of the flow and stay present to what else is in the flow, lest we find ourselves in an accident.

Most of the time when we yield we are pretty aware of our actions. Sometimes, however, we may yield out of habit, or fear, or some kind of duty or responsibility. This type of yield will most likely get us into the most trouble if we are actively seeking to "Live Our Bliss".

What are you yielding to this season? Are you moving into the flow easily and aware? Is the yield allowing you to change into a new brilliance, all color and vibrancy, like the leaves on the trees this time of year?? And once you yield, do you know where the journey will take you??

Blessings to you in this glorious fall season ,
Coach Margie
